Silicon calcium Description
Depending on the purpose of production, one or another additive is used:
• Vanadium silicocalcium increases the strength of steel joints and parts at low temperatures without reducing toughness.
• Silicocalcium with barium removes sulfur, increase the mechanical strength and flexibility of the metal.
• Silicocalcium with zirconium - significantly increases the resistance of steel to cracks and temperature changes.

Supply Silicon calcium
Silicocalcium is mainly obtained in two ways: carbon-thermal and silicothermic.
1) Carbon-thermal - the main method. It is mainly used for the production of grades with a high calcium content (more than 30%). However, this method has its drawbacks - the method is quite heat-intensive - the temperature in the furnace reaches 1900oC, which leads to large losses of calcium and silicon in flight (up to 20%). For this reason, the resulting alloy has a non-working composition and contains a large number of harmful impurities.
2) Silicothermic - a method of obtaining ferroalloy with a lower calcium concentration (less than 20%). The method is that the charge, which contains lime, ferrosilicon and fluorspar, is poured into the furnace and melted, and the ratio of lime to ferrosilicon is in the range of 0.9 - 1.1. After the charge is completely penetrated, metal-containing additives are added to the furnace and after their melting, the melting is released. As a result, we get an alloy with a lower calcium content, but with a smaller amount of harmful impurities. It should be noted that metal additives that differ in the leading element give different qualities to the ferroalloy due to the unequal solubility of the elements in calcium. Vanadium is the most difficult to dissolve in calcium. However, an alloy with an admixture of vanadium is in the greatest demand, as it is used in the production of rail steel. The disadvantages of this method include the high energy intensity of the melting process, as well as a high degree of waste of the main elements. This process is also due to the fact that the loading of metal-containing materials with this method is carried out after the melting of the entire charge.
