Metal Silicon Arc Closure Operation

The arc closure operation is to properly embed the electrode into the furnace material, use the semi molten furnace material as the blocking antibody, and generate an arc between the electrode and the molten furnace material. To achieve a closed arc operation, the first thing to consider is the feeding method. There are three feeding methods: one-time feeding, staged feeding, and multiple feeding. Except for the one-time feeding method which is an open arc operation, all other methods can achieve closed arc operation. In the production of chemical silicon, we adopt a staged feeding method, which has a stable material layer structure, low power consumption, and long furnace life. Several issues need to be addressed during operation: first, select suitable electrical parameters so that the electrodes can be inserted into the material layer at an appropriate depth; The second is to find ways to control the specific resistance of the furnace charge well; The third factor is that the particle size of the furnace material has a significant impact on the smelting of silicon, and both too large and too small particles are detrimental to the furnace condition. The advantages of closed arc operation are: ① the structure of the material layer in the furnace can form a complete system, and the furnace materials sink sequentially; ② The arc light is not exposed, and the radiation heat loss on the material surface is greatly reduced. By maintaining the blast furnace temperature, the thermal efficiency is improved, thereby increasing production, improving product quality, and reducing electricity consumption Can achieve balanced and stable electrode consumption, avoiding accidents of accidental breakage The temperature of the material surface is relatively low, which causes less thermal corrosion to the equipment on the material surface, prolongs the service life of the equipment, and improves the utilization rate of the electric furnace equipment Less dust can provide a better operating environment for furnace operations. Regardless of the size of the furnace, as long as appropriate measures are taken, it can achieve arc closure operation and achieve ideal production results
