Description
Iron alloy composed of iron and silicon. Used as a deoxidiser and alloying agent in steelmaking. It is used as deoxidiser and denaturant in cast iron. Mineral processing industry as a weighting agent, welding rods used as paint, ferroalloy industry as a reducing agent. Ferrosilicon varieties, according to the silicon content, such as FeSi75 (containing 72% to 80% Si), FeSi65 (containing 63% to 68%), FeSi45 (containing 40% to 47% Si).

Ferrosilicon production process
Ferrosilicon is produced in submerged arc reduction furnaces. The silicon content of ferrosilicon is controlled by the dosage of iron raw materials. The production of high-purity ferrosilicon in addition to the use of pure silica and reductant, but also for the furnace refining to reduce the alloy of aluminium, calcium, carbon and other impurities. Ferrosilicon containing Si ≤ 65% can be smelted by closed electric furnace, Si ≥ 70% of ferrosilicon smelted by open electric furnace or semi-closed electric furnace.
