Using coke as a reducing agent and lime as a flux in a small electric furnace can produce high carbon titanium iron containing 20% to 25%, C5% to 8%, Sil% to 2%, Al 1% to 2%, and iron as a residual. To obtain titanium iron with lower carbon content, silica can be added to the furnace charge. If the furnace material is composed of 47% ilmenite (TiO251.5%), 28.5% silica, and 24.5% coke chips, medium carbon titanium iron with Ti29% to 30%, Si17% to 20%, and C1.8% to 2% can be produced. By increasing the proportion of silica in the furnace charge, low-carbon high silicon titanium iron with Si of about 30% and C0.1%~0.3% can be produced. If bauxite is added to the furnace material, Ti Al Si Fe composite alloy can be refined.
