Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cored Wire

The winding looks like a coil. Spherical core wire is a strip steel product wrapped with strip alloy powder. It can be categorised into different uses because of the different coating powders. Steel cored wire is usually used as deoxidiser, desulphuriser or carbon additive.
I: Advantages
1. The cost of spheroidising cored wire is 10% lower than the cost of spheroidising agent. One roll of spheroidising wire (2400m) takes about 24m to process 1 tonne. One roll holds 100 tonnes of iron. One tonne of ballast holds 83 tonnes of iron.

2. requires backfilling and weighing of the spheroidising agent, physical labour for half a day, and factors such as worker drowsiness and fatigue during operation. The Core line does not require a manual filling and weighing process, saving labour costs.
3- There is a dam at the bottom of the spheronisation bag. After more than ten kilns, it needs to be manually processed once. This requires half the manual labour which is not required for powder lines.
4. All feed spheronisation data is set and does not need to be changed at any time. Spheronisation requires manual operation and is prone to errors. The use of powder lines avoids losses due to human error.
5. Spheronisation facilitates dust collection (smoke and dust are sucked out during processing at the spheronisation station) and pollution is much less than with a spheroniser. This is more in line with environmental protection requirements.
6. After spheronisation, the sphericity is high, the roundness of graphite ball is high, and the amount of graphite is high.

II: Disadvantages
1. The spheroidisation and casting time of core wire cannot exceed 13 minutes. Therefore, compared with the spheroidisation time before pouring the spheroidising agent, the powdered filament needs more precise time control.
2- Castings made with spheroidised thread are prone to pinholes and shrinkage. The reason for this is the high magnesium content. It is therefore necessary to select the correct magnesium content of the powdered thread depending on the production of the castings.
