Our calcium carbide is stored in specialized steel drums. The lid of the container is airtight, and the side walls must be corrugated. The outer walls are painted with paint, drying oil or a special varnish. Access to the contents is allowed only with a special knife or hammer in combination with a brass chisel. As calcium carbide is a Class 1 hazardous substance, strict safety precautions must be taken when opening the container to avoid sparks.
