Silicon metal 3303 is produced through a smelting process where quartz is reduced with carbon in submerged arc furnaces at temperatures above 1800°C. The resulting product is metallic silicon with a purity level that varies by grade. The physical form of silicon metal is usually irregular lumps, which can later be crushed or ground into smaller sizes.
