Low carbon ferromanganese slag alkalinity electrosilicon thermal smelting of medium and low carbon ferromanganese is the essence of desiliconisation. In order to make the desilication reaction proceed smoothly, the smelting needs to add strong alkaline oxide CaO to the furnace, and the addition of CaO makes the slag alkalinity increase.
With the increase of alkalinity, the activity of MnO in the slag also increases. With the increase of alkalinity, the desilication reaction continues under new conditions, and MnO in the slag and silicon in the alloy further decline. Obviously, the level of slag alkalinity is closely related to the size of the desilication capacity and the ability to remove impurities. Alkalinity level, in addition to analysis based on laboratory analysis, from the furnace performance and slag form can also be identified.
Alkalinity is too high, the arc is long and loud, the material is slow, the furnace wall hangs slag more, the mouth of the furnace brown smoke thick, thick slag, slag and iron is difficult to separate, cooling slag is easy to pulverise; alkalinity is too low, the electrode does not show arc, the loudness of the small, the material is fast, slag thin, mobility is good, the furnace lining erosion is serious, the slag and iron is easy to separate, cooling slag is not basically pulverised.
Normally, the alkalinity CaO+MgO/SiO2 is controlled within the range of 1.2~1.4. Smelting of different grades of alloy, alkalinity control range is also different, such as FeMn80C0.4 control CaO/SiO2 in more than 1.3, FeMn80C1.0 control CaO/SiO2 in 1.2 ~ 1.3, FeMn80C1.5 control CaO/SiO2 in 1.1 ~ 1.2 and so on.
