why do we need to pierce air holes during the ferrosilicon smelting process

During the melting process, due to the difficult conditions of the furnace, shallow click insertion and crucible calibration, the surface of the material has poor air permeability and the phenomenon of fire penetration occurs. For this reason, it is necessary to perform a hole punching operation, that is, to use round steel to punch the airtight part of the surface of the material. Do not lift it, just loosen the charge and remove the furnace gas.

Locations of holes to improve air permeability:

1. The lower part of the vertebral body or a large surface area of the material with poor air permeability.

2. Around the refractory part.

Permeable holes can achieve the following purposes:

1. Accelerate the release of a large amount of carbon monoxide formed after the reaction, which not only increases the preheating surface of the charge, but also improves the air permeability of the charge surface, expands the crucible, and helps to accelerate the chemical reaction in the furnace.

2. Reduce the phenomenon of fire breakthrough and reduce heat loss.
