Metallic silicon powder can be used as a carburettor or combustion aid according to specific application requirements. It is a non-renewable resource. It should be noted that not all pure silicon metal powders are able to meet the required standards. In this paper, the quality indicators of silicon metal powder for stone materials will be presented.
1. The coke formed by a small ball body has a porous sponge-like structure, and the coke formed by a large small ball body has a compact fibrous or needle-like structure, which is superior to sponge in quality. In terms of quality indicators, density is a key indicator, with high density indicating good crystallinity.
To assess the quality of powdery and clumpy particles in the reaction coke, the relative focal point content can be used as a key indicator.
2. Oil, coke, sulphur and ash content. The expansion of high sulphur coke during graphitisation may cause cracking of the coal product. High ash content can adversely affect the crystalline structure and consequently the performance of the coal product.
3. Coke products have the ability to prevent cracking when subjected to sudden temperature increases or rapid cooling at high temperatures.
These aspects make it possible to judge the quality of silicon metal powder. In determining the quality of silicon metal powder, factors such as oil content, transparency, colour, gloss, thickness, elasticity, resistance to chemical solvents, environmental resistance, impact resistance, scratch resistance and wear resistance should be considered.
