What are the properties of Ferrovanadium 60(FeV60)

1. Vanadium content around 60%

FeV60 contains significantly more vanadium than FeV40 or FeV50, giving it:

higher strengthening efficiency,

fewer additions needed,

more predictable alloying behavior.

For many mills, FeV60 is the "middle-tier" grade that fits a wide range of production needs.

2. Strong strengthening and grain refinement

FeV60 improves steel through:

enhanced precipitation strengthening,

better grain size control,

increased yield strength,

improved weldability and toughness.

These effects make FeV60 suitable for higher-grade rebar, structural steels, and mid-range HSLA steels.

3. More stable vanadium recovery

FeV60 provides better and more consistent recovery than FeV40 and FeV50, although still slightly below FeV80.

This helps steelmakers:

reduce correction additions,

maintain tighter chemistry,

achieve consistent performance across heats.

4. Cleaner chemistry

FeV60 typically has lower impurity levels than FeV40, especially in C, S, and P.
This contributes to:

cleaner steel,

fewer inclusions,

more controlled microstructure.

5. Cost-performance balance

FeV60 offers:

much better efficiency than FeV40/FeV50,

significantly lower cost than FeV80,

strong all-around value for mills upgrading their steel grades.

This is why FeV60 is widely used in mills producing both construction and alloy steels.
