Alternatives to acetylene production:
Natural gas cracking: High-temperature methane cracking is more environmentally friendly, inexpensive and has become mainstream.
Plasma method: a new technology with high energy consumption but better purity (used for high-quality chemicals).
Waste disposal:
Cement from carbide slag: replacing limestone and reducing CO₂ emissions (some Chinese companies are already using it on a large scale).
Soil reclamation: neutralization of acidic mine wastewater and binding of heavy metal ions (such as lead and cadmium).
