Ferrosilicon production consists in the reduction of quartzite silica with solid carbon. Here's what you'll need to smelt FS45: reducing agent (such as coal or coke), quartzite, shavings, and sawdust. First, grind and sift the reducing agent and quartzite. Shavings and sawdust can be sent directly to the furnace without additional preparation. Load the charge into the furnace hoppers and it will be ready for operation.
