Ferrosilicon 75 is an alloy of iron, silicon and carbon. The usual proportions are 75-80% iron, 15-20% silicon and 1.5-2.5% carbon. Ferrosilicon can be divided into low (Si ≤ 35%), medium (Si 36 to 55%) and high (Si > 55%) depending on the amount of silicon. Different types of ferrosilicon are used in different applications.
