What Is A Long Acting Inoculant

A long-term inoculant is an inoculant with the addition of anti-degradation elements such as barium and strontium. In the casting process, it is actually a silicon-barium inoculant. The barium element can inhibit the breakdown of the seed and increase the amount of ferrite. Barium ferrosilicon not only has good anti-rot properties, but also is effective in preventing white casting. Long-term seed material (silicon-barium seed material) is a block metallurgical material made by mixing silicon powder and barium powder in the required proportion and smelting the steel in a high-temperature furnace. It is an additive in the casting process at the foundry. It promotes graphitization, reduces the tendency to white casting, improves the morphology and distribution of graphite, increases the number of eutectic groups, and improves the structure of the matrix. It has a good effect for a short time after inoculation (about 5-8 minutes).
