Effective Ferrosilicon 75% Silver Grey Description
Ferrosilicon is a mixture of iron and silicon. Silicon (atomic mass 28.086, density 2.33 g/cm3, melting and boiling points 1414 and 2287 °C, respectively) makes steel harder, stronger and more elastic. It also makes the steel more resistant to rust and reduces energy loss.
Ferrosilicon is used to make steel stronger and less prone to rust, as well as to make other types of steel stronger and more heat-resistant. It is also used to give strength to cast iron and modify other types of steel. Ferrosilicon is also used in metallothermal processes to reduce other metals. On the surface of ingots and pieces of ferrosilicon there should be no obvious pieces of slag or other foreign materials, and the amount of fines passing through a sieve with holes of 20x20 mm should be no more than 12% of the weight of the batch. Small pieces of welding sand, traces of other non-stick materials and graphite are allowed.
