Ferro Moly 55 Description
The process for the production of ferromolybdenum 55 is that molybdenum is first mined and then converted to molybdenum (VI) oxide MoO3. This oxide is mixed with iron oxide and aluminum and then reduced in an aluminothermia reaction. Electron beam melting then purifies the ferromolybdenum, or the product can be packaged as is. Typically, the resulting alloy will be produced either as small briquettes or as a finer powder. Ferromolybdenum is usually shipped in either bags or steel drums for transportation.
